Kilgore Trout

Alongside information on the settings mentioned in Kurt Vonnegut's novels, this blog also includes a guide to Kilgore Trout. Trout made his first appearance in Vonnegut's 1965 novel, God Bless You, Mr Rosewater, and since then, has appeared in numerous other books by Vonnegut. Often considered as a reflection of Vonnegut's own views about himself and his work, as well as a caricature of sci-fi writers such as Theodore Sturgeon, Kilgore Trout has become an essential part of Vonnegut's literature.

No self-respecting Vonnegut website would be complete without a reference to Trout and heartfelt thanks goes to Marek Vit, of the wonderful Kurt Vonnegut Corner, for allowing the republishing of Trout articles from his old Geocities website (which is unfortunately no longer available). Alongside Marek's articles, Kurt Vonnegut Settings will also be publishing a wide range of new work about Trout. As more articles are added, you can of course expect our Kilgore Trout collection to expand. For more information on Kilgore Trout, simply follow the links, below:
